In the events leading up to and including October 22, 1844 our Adventist forefathers left us with an important heritage. Instead of a beginning of being ‘right’ about our religion, we began with utter failure and humiliation. Out of this failure and what was indeed a Great Disappointment – hope was born and a movement began.
This year on October 22, 2010 we look to live into the legacy of theological innovation that was required when the experience of early Adventists could no longer sustain what they believed. We hope to capture the adventurous spirit of a group of pioneers seeking to find Truth and willing to follow it wherever it leads. We want to celebrate the value that faith requires, risk even in the face of uncertainty. Most of all, we desire to remember that the fruit of failure can be humility and an openness to see where God is leading.
