The episode begins with Raina “listening to the King’s song” where it is most easily heard—at one of the most beautiful places on earth. Cadan suddenly appears, battle-scarred, haunted by the General’s chant. Raina calms him by having him remember when He first heard the King’s song during creation. Asking if it is too late for the aboriginals, Cadan is finally able to tell the story of the latest fight, the worst since the first battle with the General. The King had come down to give the law to an entire nation, the first public speech since the defection. But as he tried to “sing” for them from His mountain of fire, the aboriginals couldn’t stand the sound of His voice, begging Him to stop, thinking they would be destroyed. The King agreed to speak through an ambassador, but when the clan was left alone they started to whisper, then chant, then shout and scream at the mountain, replacing the King with an idol. The angels broke into battle, and Larus attacked Cadan. Cadan broke rank, pushing Larus away from the battle, afraid he might be destroyed. Raina advises Cadan that if he loves Larus, he must release him and allow him to choose. The war must continue until all have seen what life is like without the King. But they will not give up on humanity. Administration is sending Hope with a song for all to hear. And we can always choose to listen.

rather than using them as a guide to freedom and love. Take some time to pray against the dual temptations of legalism and licentiousness, and for an increased understanding of God’s love instead of Satan’s counterfeits.
